We get a lot of questions from customers who are thinking about replacing their lawn because, despite being around for years, artificial lawns still have a sense of mystery surrounding them, and a lot of people don’t understand a lot about them.
So we thought it would be a great idea to do a blog answering some of the most frequently asked questions.
Q. What are the main advantages of having an artificial lawn?
A. There are lots of benefits to switching from a natural lawn to an artificial one however the main two are as follows. 1. They are extremely low maintenance and require no watering, mowing, chemical usage, trimming or aeration. 2. They provide owners with a beautiful, usable garden all year round.
Q. Can artificial grass be installed over any kind of surface?
A. It can be installed over a number of bases; tarmac, asphalt, concrete, treated decking, sand or even existing grass. You can tackle it yourself DIY style or contact a local installer.
Q. Is it suitable for pets and children?
A. Despite what some people may tell you, an artificial lawn is entirely suitable for both pets and children. In fact, it will actually work out better for you. Your children will have a safe place to play all year round, whatever the weather; and your pet will have the same. It’s also much easier to clean up after a dog who has done their business on an artificial grass lawn and you’ll find no muddy paw prints in your home. Plus, they can’t dig it up!
Q. Will the sun affect the grass at all?
A. During the height of summer, you’ll notice that the surface of the lawn will be a little hotter but you should still be able to walk upon it with bare feet. Most artificial grass products also have a UV protection guarantee so your lush, green colour won’t fade in the sun (but you need to check).
