When I got on the school bus,
I was in for a surprise.
My friends all stared and pointed.
There was mischief in their eyes.
A kid who sat in front of me
reached out and pinched my knee…
I asked, “Why are you pinching me?
I think it’s very mean!”
They said, “Today’s St. Patrick’s Day
and you’re not wearing green.”

St. Patrick’s Day is a day of celebration of the Irish and all Irish things. From drinking pints of Guinness and donning ginger beards, to leprechaun and shamrock imagery, it’s a pretty upbeat and spirited day of the year. And as the poem above suggests, if you don’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, you can expect to get pinched!
All over the world, people celebrate this day dedicated to the Patron Saint of Ireland; Patrick and remember the myths and miracles that are attributed to him. For example, the fact that he used a shamrock in an illustrative parable, him managing to drive all the snakes out of Ireland, the fact that his walking stick grew into a living tree, and his ability to speak with ancient Irish ancestors.
If you’re Irish or have Irish ancestry then no doubt you’ll be decking your home out to the rafters in green, but a great way to have something green all year round is by investing in an artificial lawn. By replacing your natural grass, you’ll have a dazzling, green and accessible lawn 24/7.
